The Acuity RADAR Search Engine is a readily-scalable, enterprise-grade search engine. It is designed to operate in real time. It can search and index documents in the database at the same time. The RADAR search engines is able to achieve fast search responses because, instead of searching the text directly, it searches an index period instead. This is more like searching for a keyword by scanning the index at the back of a book, as opposed to searching every word of every page of the book.

Radar is not associated with any particular application but rather scans and indexes the entire database. It can also be extended to search non-database documents such as word processing documents, spreadsheets, etc. This gives users a quick and easy way to locate information anywhere on the system.
